Justin Bieber's new Iceland-shot video channels Walter Mitty By Birgir Olgeirsson 2. nóvember 2015 21:14 Spot the difference - Justin Bieber in 2015, Ben Stiller in 2013. Vísir/YouTube Justin Bieber‘s latest video, which premiered on YouTube earlier today, was shot in Iceland during the singer‘s visit last September. In a promotion video for his upcoming record, Purpose, the Canadian singer can be seen bathing in his underwear in Jökulsárlón lagoon and in Fjarðarárgljúfur on the South coast of Iceland. In the video (455 thousand views and counting) Bieber can also be seen cruising the Icelandic highway on a skateboard and posing on the Douglas-airplane on Sólheimasandur, two shots that bare more than a passing resemblance to Ben Stiller‘s The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, also shot in Iceland. In the 2013 movie, actor and director Stiller‘s eponymous character visits Iceland and, in one of the film‘s most memorable scenes, rolls along Seyðisfjarðarvegur in East Iceland on a longboard. The scene has inspired longboarders the world over, several of whom have made the trip to Iceland to record videos that pay homage to Stiller‘s movie. Whether or not Walter Mitty was the inspiration for Bieber‘s new video is not entirely clear but Vísir News' original piece on the video in Icelandic seemed to amuse Stiller on Twitter:So glad I speak fluent Icelandic so I can read this. The only words I don't understand are "Justin Bieber"... https://t.co/NrOXrFuoNT— Ben Stiller (@RedHourBen) November 2, 2015 A few choice Mitty-inspired skating videos can be seen below.Seyðisfjarðarvegur, looking good."We realized, we suck at longboarding," say these Iceland enthusiasts. We can't all be Ben Stiller.
